Agia Marinouda, a picturesque little village in Paphos, follows a growth route, mostly as far as the residential sector is concerned. Over the last few years the interest shown regarding the development of the village on behalf of community and private bodies is extraordinary. The main motivation for this growth is the neighboring and continuously developing city of Paphos. Let us learn more about this residential and tourist advance in Agia Marinouda.
The expansion of residential zones, the demarcation of land have contributed to this residential growth. For instance, the building rate at the entrance of the village, on the north and south hills, has grown. The new settlements have been established and is located between the first settlement and the main Paphos-Limassol road, near the bridge under construction in “Panias” area. The initial settlement of Agia Marinouda is slowly deserted.
The continuous building is also connected with the decrease of rural depopulation levels. Many people who abandoned the village in the past are now returning. They renovate their houses or build new ones, thus contributing to residential and population upgrade.
One of the most important projects of the community is the construction of new community buildings: offices, conference rooms, entertainment places, such as tavernas and coffee-shops.
Planning and realising these projects helps upgrade the community and promote its residential and tourist growth. The community, for instance, has installed a new water supply system, has turned mere alleys within the village into asphalt roadways. The community also plans to restore the old fountain, construction of sidewalks within the community, construction of supporting walls lined with stone. The constant advancement of the village with such projects that do not denature its character, make it more modern and more approachable to locals and visitors.
Agia Marinouda, as mentioned earlier, has to show development in the tourist sector. To be more specific, modern tourist apartments have been constructed at a prominent location. Agia Marinouda is not only really close to Paphos but has the beautiful sea to offer and of course the warm hospitality of its inhabitants. These are the best omens.
Agia Marinouda is undoubtedly one of the developing villages of Paphos. The growing concern for the modernization of the village resulted to the “rebirth” of the village, which is indicated by all these new buildings. Agia Marinouda is at the same time developing as far as the tourist sector is concerned, hoping to be able to serve the need for agrotourism.
